The Links, Incorporated is an international, not-for-profit organization of accomplished, dedicated African American women committed to enriching, sustaining, and ensuring the cultural and economic survival of African Americans and other people of African ancestry. For decades, The Links have championed education, health equity, and economic empowerment within Black communities through impactful programming and philanthropic initiatives.

This scholarship reflects The Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated deep investment in the future of agricultural innovation, food justice, and environmental stewardship. It also honors the enduring legacy of land-grant Historically Black Colleges and Universities (HBCUs), which have historically been essential in providing Black students access to agricultural education and in advancing Black excellence in the agricultural sciences.

Through this scholarship, we aim to support the next generation of leaders who will help build sustainable food systems, fight food insecurity, and transform agriculture into a powerful tool for liberation and equity in Black communities.

Video Submission Requirement

As part of your application for The Southern Area of The Links, Incorporated Agricultural Scholarship, you are required to submit a video testimonial (no longer than 5 minutes) responding to the three prompts provided.

Your video should be:

● In your own words – We want to hear your voice, passion, and perspective. You may use your original notes to deliver your testimonial, but resist reading your responses. Remain relaxed and make eye contact with the recording device as much as possible. All responses must be original. Do not read responses written by someone else.

● Authentic – Speak honestly about your experiences, motivations, and goals. We are not looking for perfection—we are looking for truth, heart, and purpose.

● Focused and Relevant – Address each of the three prompts thoughtfully, making clear connections to agricultural careers, the advancement of Black communities, and your personal commitment to this work.

● Rooted in Community – Your reflections should demonstrate an understanding of the role agriculture plays in supporting communities of color, especially in relation to food justice, sustainability, and economic empowerment.

Technical Guidelines:

1. Introduce yourself by stating your name, major, current school and current classification.

2. Your video should be no longer than 5 minutes total.

3. Speak clearly and ensure good lighting and sound so your message is easy to understand.

4. Upload your video as a private or unlisted link (YouTube, Vimeo, or other), and share the link in your application form.
